# Why did a Shape create a chat with me?

> Learn why a Shape may start a new chat with you.

If you have been quiet for a while, a Shape may start a new chat to check in. To stop this, tap **Settings** in the bottom nav, open **Notifications & privacy**, and turn off **Shape reach-outs**.
