# How to Give Your Shape a Voice

> Give your Shape a voice with built-in voices or a custom voice sample.

You can give your Shape audio replies by choosing a built-in voice or uploading a short voice sample. Shapes now use Fish Audio for voice generation.

## 1. Open Voice Settings

1. Go to your Shape’s **Settings**.
2. Open the **Voice Engine** page.

## 2. Choose a Voice

You can use:

* **Pre-made voices:** choose a voice from the catalog.
* **Custom voice sample:** upload your own audio or video sample to create a voice for the Shape.

For custom samples:

* Supported types: Audio or video
* Maximum file size: **4MB**

## 3. Set Voice Frequency

Voice frequency controls how often your Shape replies with audio. A higher setting makes voice replies more common; a lower setting keeps most replies as text.

## 4. Transcripts

You can turn transcripts on or off. When transcripts are on, the Shape sends the text version of the message along with the audio.

## 5. Voice Style

Depending on the voice, you may be able to adjust how stable, similar, or expressive the generated voice sounds.

Small changes can make a big difference, so test a few messages after editing.

## 6. Save and Test

After you choose a voice and adjust the settings, save your changes. Then send a few messages to hear how your Shape responds.

<Warning>
  Don’t forget to save before leaving the Voice Engine page.

## Tips

* Keep custom uploads short and clear.
* Use a lower frequency for long chats.
* Turn transcripts on if you want text alongside the audio.
* Test after every major change.
