# What's a Shape?

> A Shape is an AI character you talk to on Shapes. It has its own personality, memory, and voice, and it can hang out in group chats with you and your friends.

A **Shape** is an AI character you can talk to.

What makes a Shape different from a normal chatbot is that it feels like *someone*. It has a personality that stays consistent, it remembers you, it can talk back in its own voice, and it can hang out in a group chat with you and your friends.

A Shape can be almost anything: a study buddy, a dungeon master for a game, a character from your favorite show, or an original character you dream up.

## What a Shape can do
