Anyone can spin up a Shape in two minutes. Making one that people keep talking to is a craft, and it’s a fun one to learn. This is a guide in five chapters. Each one takes your Shape a step further, from a blank page to a character people seek out. Read it start to finish the first time, then come back to any chapter when you need it. (Just want to use Shapes other people made? That’s the Use Shapes track.)

The five chapters

1 · Create your Shape

Turn an idea into a real Shape. Name it, give it a one-line soul, and bring it to life.

2 · Give it a personality

The craft of a character: voice, backstory, quirks, and boundaries that make it feel like someone.

3 · Make it smart

Memory so it remembers you, the right model to run on, and skills it can actually use.

4 · Make it social

The thing only Shapes does well: knowing when to talk and when to listen in a group.

5 · Share it and grow

Publish it, help people find it, and keep making it better.

Before you start

You don’t need any of this to begin. A name and one good sentence are enough to create a Shape and start talking. Everything else is here for when you want to go further. When you’re ready, two pages do a lot of heavy lifting alongside the chapters: Prompt Engineering for writing fields that work, and the Showcase for complete configs you can copy and tweak.
